Hotkey Configuration

Default Hotkey

How It Works — Hold to Speak

Weesper Neon Flow uses a hold-to-speak approach:

  1. Hold the hotkey → recording starts and the HUD appears
  2. Speak clearly while keeping the key pressed
  3. Release the hotkey → recording stops, audio is transcribed, and text is inserted at your cursor

This means you must keep the hotkey held down for the entire duration of your dictation. When you release the key, dictation stops immediately and your speech is transcribed.

There is no toggle mode (press once to start, press again to stop). This is by design — hold-to-speak gives you precise control and prevents accidental recordings.

Changing the Hotkey

  1. Open Weesper Neon Flow Settings
  2. Go to the Hotkey section
  3. Click the hotkey field
  4. Press your desired key combination
  5. The change takes effect immediately — no restart needed

FAQ

What is the default dictation hotkey?

Shift+Tab on macOS and Windows.

Can I change the hotkey?

Yes, go to Settings → Hotkey to configure a custom shortcut.

Is there a hands-free or toggle mode?

No. Weesper Neon Flow uses a hold-to-speak design exclusively. You must hold the hotkey while speaking and release it to stop recording. This is intentional — it prevents accidental recordings and gives you precise control over when dictation starts and stops.

Why does Weesper use hold-to-speak instead of toggle?

Hold-to-speak is faster and more reliable for professional use. There is no delay, no risk of forgetting to stop recording, and no accidental capture of background conversations. It works like a walkie-talkie — hold to talk, release when done.
